The webinar will focus on UC San Diego Health’s experience with the use of electronic medical records when treating hospitalized patients with either potential or identified opioid difficulties including allergies and addiction. Discussion will include setting up orders for opioid medications and accurate documentation of patient response to opioid medication. The webinar will highlight care for patients admitted on medically assisted opioid treatments, flagged patients who have had prior issues with pain medications without biasing future treatment, and provision of mandated patient education for controlled substances. In addition, the talk will explore how medical center policy and other regulatory agencies affect documentation in the patient record.
